"In South Korea, everyone is entitled to have a dream."—Dae Sung Kim

To feed his family in North Korea, Dae Sung Kim illegally traded goods across the border with China, and was put on a government watch list. To save himself, he had to flee south. Life in South Korea was much different. In North Korea, there were times he went without food for a whole week and his only dream was to eat a stomach-full. In South Korea, he found plentiful food and a place where people had bigger dreams. Dae Sung Kim became a venture capitalist for other North Korean refugees, helping them start businesses and transform their dreams into reality.  Learn how Korea became two very different countries divided by the 38th Parallel. Hear Kim's story of Escape! from North Korea, and how he hopes to one day return to his former homeland. For more information, go to

Pups of Liberty Producers/Animators Visit Us!

Jennifer & Bert Klein, producers/directors/lead animators of our "Pups of Liberty: Boston Tea-Bone Party" DVD, are in town today, visiting our offices. This morning they spoke to a group of 5th graders at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in Erie, PA. Here are some pictures of them from the trip. The kids were spellbound by Pups, and they were treated to a sneak-peek at the next Pups of Liberty, which we're working on now. "Pups of Liberty: The Dogclaration of Independence" should be released next fall! The Kleins also taught the students the basics of animation.

This is the Kleins before the presentation.

This is just after the students finished viewing Pups of Liberty. They were absolutely spellbound by the video!

We gave away several copies of the video to students. Jen & Bert autographed them for the kids.

It was a fantastic opportunity for us, and we're very thankful to Grover Cleveland Elementary school, and all of the 5th grade teachers, especially Ms. Conrad!

Welcome back, teachers! Hope your summer vacation was a good one, and that your upcoming year goes smoothly.

Since it’s a new school year, make sure you log in at and select your free DVD for the year. (Check your status because you may have to leave feedback before making a new choice.)

We’ve made some updates for the new year. You can now choose another copy of a DVD that you’ve received in the past. So if you had a favorite DVD and it’s gone missing, you can pick it again. You’re still limited to one copy of a given title per school year. (The school year runs July 1 – June 30.) Maybe you want a duplicate copy of your favorite so you can let your students borrow it for viewing at home.

We’ve also given our homepage a “facelift” to make it more modern and appealing. The biggest change you’ll notice is that the log in is now in the upper right corner, as you find on most websites. Also you can enter your email and your password at the same time – no more “two stage” log in.

Make sure you stay in touch! We’ve got lots of new releases and exciting contests coming up this year.

This year, changed up our Teacher of the Year program. We invited previous Teachers of the Year to nominate exceptional teachers they knew who were using DVDs in their classrooms. Those nominees were then asked to respond to several essay questions, including one about their favorite DVD and how they used it with students.

We are extremely pleased to honor these dedicated, hard-working teachers: (from left to right) Connie Walsh-Toler, Karlee Dodson, and Love Merryman.

These outstanding educators won an all-expenses-paid trip to Chicago, where they participated in our planning session for the upcoming school year, offering valuable insights about their classrooms/students and suggestions for how can better serve teachers and their students in the future. They were also presented with the David & Annette Jorgensen Award of Excellence, a cash prize of $2,000, a full set of DVDs, and lifetime Plus memberships.
